Will the T-Mobile/Sprint merger be good for consumers?

It's official, T-Mobile and Sprint are set to become one, but although a deal has been agreed upon, the future is far from certain. Now the new, enlarged T-Mobile will have to sell the merger to both the US government and to ordinary people, considering the inevitable layoffs and reduced competition.
